Something Wicked sign

Another Halloween craft I made for some wall art.  I got some wood-burning stamps last Christmas and hadn’t tried them out yet so this was the perfect opportunity to give it a whirl.  Some of the letters are a bit wonky but again, adds to the character!  I believe this was just a scrap piece of oak plywood that I stained with a watered down acrylic paint.  Used the stamps to get my phrase on there.  Cut the little hat just out of a piece of black plastic and made a band with duct tape.  The little broom I just took a twig, painted black, and used some hot glue on the end to hold those bristles in place.  The bristles are actually from a pushbroom I have (the color was too good to pass up!), and those got wrapped with a small piece of black wire once they were glued down.  Then I had an old leather wallet that I cut some strips from and those and the hat just got thumbtacked to the wood.  The broom sits right on those loops, throw on a hanging hook or whatever you want to use to hang it up and you’re set to go.  Another pretty simple decoration that just required some time to assemble.  The color really popped on my dark wall and I got lots of compliments.
