Hookmaid

My sis has a big birthday this year and I wanted to paint her something special.  She loves the beach and I’m beginning to suspect that she might be a mermaid SO I decided a mermaid would be a cool idea that she’d be into.  It has been a hot minute since I last painted so I was pleasantly surprised how much I really liked how this turned out.  Um…okay, let’s address the hook-hand.  For the life of me, I could NOT get that hand to look right and I was getting irritated and exasperated.  In my angry grunting I thought, “Maybe she just has a crab claw…heh heh…or MAYBE she has a hook hand!”  And then I knew that it MUST be so.  I was going for a kinda stained glass look here and I really like the look!  This is done in acrylic paint on a stretched canvas.  The black line work is just drawing pen and the white lines and bubbles are a paint marker.  I’m anticipating doing something else in this style because I REALLY do love how it turned out.  Hopefully my sis will like it too!
