“Man on the Moon”

This painting was inspired by a technique I had experimented with in high school. Instead of painting directly on a canvas, I would glue pieces of paper to the canvas and use it to create some texture and in this case, a 3D feature. The face of the moon is essentially papier mache. I wet paper with a mixture of water and glue and formed it into a face. From there, I started painting over the glued paper. Part of me wishes I would have done the sky in a color instead but I do like the soothing and creepy quality of the piece.
