This is a commissioned logo for the group Perceptions of Saginaw Valley. The following is taken from their website:
“Perceptions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization that offers educational, social and networking opportunities for residents of the Tri-Cities (Midland, Bay City and Saginaw) and surrounding areas. Perceptions strives to foster a positive image for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender community and our allies. Our Board of Trustees and organizers are volunteers from the local community. All of our operating funds come from donations, fundraisers and membership dues.”
My intention for this new logo was to give the group something that was simple but relevant. I tried to provide something that could work today, tomorrow, and for many years to come. I gave a nod to the name of the group by making the visual a stylized letter “P” which I also believe aids in branding for the group. It is a simple yet effective way to link the logo back to the group name. Being an LGBT group, the client wanted to keep a rainbow-inspired color scheme so I made sure that the colors were vibrant and alive. The client also expressed an interest in movement so I interpreted that idea with the orientation and size of the semicircles.
