“Persephone”
I’m a big fan of mythology and Greek mythology is pretty high up there. One of my favorite myths is about Persephone being kidnapped by Hades. I love the idea of her being this kind of spring goddess while also being queen of the Underworld. I took some cues from Disney’s “Hercules” and decided to give her a glow. I decided green would be interesting because it is like foliage or fresh shoots, but we also tend to give zombies and ghouls a kind of greenish tint. Thinking about Persephone returning from the Underworld reminded me of a zombie rising from the grave.
So the image on the left is my original drawing and the one on the right is my rendering in Illustrator. Kind of a progression between media.
