Okay, I’ve been thinking of this piece for a while. I LOVE the “Addams Family” movies. I was still pretty young when they were released but as I grew up, I really appreciated them more and more. If I’m being completely honest, I prefer the second movie, “Addams Family Values”, mostly because of Joan Cusack’s role as Debbie. Both films are part of my movie collection though and I enjoy re-watching them. Anywho, back to the piece…
I was going for a baroque kind of cameo necklace feel. It felt like it would fit with the feel of the Addams family but still be a little maybe goth-looking. I took FULL advantage of Illustrator’s built in patterns and stamps/symbols. The frame is pretty much completely symbols that I arranged together into the circular frame. I ended up layering a lot of patterns to give things depth, like her dress and the background. I “built” the knives and the poison bottle which took far longer than I would have thought but they ended up looking great. I have to give a shout-out to Jeff Bell for his font “Fiddums Family Font”, which I used for her name in the bottom scrollwork. This font is a free download and I found it on http://dafont.com . And finally, Wednesday herself, I “built” using shapes and lines and just shaping them into the final product. It was a long process but I’m really happy with the results.
I hope you enjoy this piece, I know I do, and thanks for looking!
